“Homing in on the real issues of homelessness” is the theme of Homeless Persons’ Week 2012, held from 6-12 August. This year the campaign focuses on fostering an understanding of the complex and sensitive reasons why people become homeless, which can include unemployment, lack of support, illness, addiction and financial difficulty. The Homelessness Australia website provides details of events held in support of Homeless Persons’ Week and includes extensive resources about the issues that contribute to homelessness.
