Homeswest wrongly boards up house
Homeswest boarded up a tenant's house last week by mistake.
The tenant, Georgina Phillips came home on Friday to find her home boarded up and no explanation for it.
The Innaloo woman was this morning distressed at the mystery of why her home of 15 years would have been boarded up.
Department of Housing general manager Steve Parry gave little explanation but said the apartment was boarded up "in error."
Ms Phillips told 6PR radio that she arrived home after work to find boards covering her windows.
"I was scared to go in, I thought my house got burnt, I thought the windows were smashed," she said.
"I opened up the doors, go inside, checked everything, everything was in order, I was brought to tears, very upset, why has this got to be?"
Ms Phillips said she phoned the Department of Housing to find out if it was responsible for boarding up her house and why.
She did not find out why her home had been boarded up but was told the boards would be removed by the department.
The boards were reported to be still up at 8.30am this morning but Mr Parry has since said the situation had been remedied.
"The Department has removed the boarding and apologised to the tenant," he said.
